I might get flamed really badly for this, but I have to ask anyway. If I could find a 1st generation in a junkyard/pick-n-pull, with the front end intact, would I be able to put the TTB suspension in my '97? It seems like it would be more of a bolt-on swap than a full blown SAS. Keep in mind that I am a college student with very little $, and my X can't be out of commission for more than a week. Also, one of the brackets for the tortion bar on the driver's side of my '97 needs to be replaced because it is bent. Is this the dumbest idea anybody has come up with, or could it work?

I'd say it'd be alot more work than an sas. Unless you cut the front frame out of yours and replaced it with the front frame of a 1st gen.

Just do a 2" tt and shackle lift and then a bodylift

I didn't realize the frames are that different. I've just always been really opposed to body lifts...

Then do the tt/shackle lift then trim to fit the tire you want. Easy, effective, and cheap :D

if you want to swap the front axle just go ahead and do it, only put a solid axle underneath instead of TTB, makes a lot more sence at least to me

exactly why not put an SAS in the TTB is still another axle/front suspension it will require just as much work. IF you do a Leaf sprung SAS it is alot Cheaper then coilovers plus you can weld on the shackle and the spring mount to the frame.=Eaiser and cheaper

and more functional if you want to have a lot of lift instead of building brackets or cutting and turning the TTB

if you do the TTB you will shoot yourself later if you like to off-road.

Putting a TTB suspension in an SLA IFS equipped truck would be rediculously difficult, and completely unpractical, requiring excessive amounts of work and money.

It's cheaper and easier to swap in a solid axle.
