2015 FPIU
Hey there, I have a 2015 FPIU and I haven’t get my A pillar recall done by my local dealer, the outer trims are gone and the inner ones are cracked. also i have to get the windshield replaced.
I was watching some DIY windshield replacement videos and reading the recall document Ford sent to dealers, when I noticed that almost all steps covered in recall (removing pillar trims, applying primers, etc) are basically first and last few steps of replacing the windshield.
So my question is, can I ask the dealer to reduce the labor hours on windshield replacement because probably 40% of them are repeated if done separately.
I was ripped off by this dealer once (paid parts and labor separately, had a $60 “shop order fee” on both orders) so I don’t really trust them that much. If they refuse, can I go to another dealer or that will just be the same result? As far as I understand, the labor depends on each step of the repair, not the overall? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Every service advisor at every dealership is different. If one won't do it, try another. Yes, overlapping labor is supposed to be charged ONLY ONCE.

But in any case; you have to wait until you get the notification that the A-pillar parts are available (I haven't gotten that yet, and I'm a personal friend of the dealership parts manager). So if you need the w/s fixed soon, this might be moot. It could be months or years before the recall parts are released.
