A4LD/5R55E just unreliable?

A4LD/5R55E...are these transmissions just unreliable? They seem like nothing but problems. Although my '88 Ranger 2.9L went over 250,000 miles before the A4LD blew!

There are a lot of members with over 200K on their original engines, and transmissions. You have to consider these factors: hard driving conditions, towing, off roading, stop & go traffic, hill climbing, fluid & filter changes, overheating, etc.
