A4ld and c5 shift linkage swap

Hi all...swapping the C5 into my '94 and have a few remaining questions before I start bolting it in. The shift linkage on the c-5 and a4ld are almost the same but the arm on the c5 is up and the arm on the a4ld is down. The both shift in the same direction rotation wise but is there anyway to swap the two so that the c5 operates in the same direction as the a4ld? Also, what is the plastic piece with 4 wires coming out of it on the c5? I removed the trans before I looked at the other end and the truck is gone now. Lastly, what are the two electrical connections on the a4ld that plug in near the shift linkage? What do I do with the existing harness on the explorer if they do not plug into anything now? I would recomend a search for "C5" or "C5 swap". All of those questions have been answered in the last few months. Several people are swapping them in. I know I did.

Thanks but I have searched hard already. No one has mentioned swapping out the kickdown/gearshift shafts, rotating them, or ??. Most people are just putting in new floorshifters, etc. I am trying to utilize the 94 explore cables for kickdown and shifting just to keep it simple..

The column shift from the A4lD has been modified to work on the C5/C4. Its in a swap thread, but they do not say how to do it. 4 detents compared to 3. It would be a huge amount of work probably involving machining and welding. I have no clue.

Thats why everyone (including myself) uses a floor shifter. Besides them being cool in truck. I happened to use the factory one, while others buy expensive ones.

I know thats not what your looking for though. IIRC contact 410fortune. I think hes the guy who posted seeing one somewhere.

Its extremely rare to do that though. I would like to see someone do it.

It looks like it can be done by inverting the linkage going into the c5. I will use my old a4ld bracket an bolt it on a similar spot on the c5 and will technically lose only 1st gear detent? I should have then P.R.N.OD.3.2. Am I nuts?

I honestly don't know. I never tried it because I wanted the floor shift anyway. If your not damaging anything it worth a try.

When I ordered my 89 ranger I tried to order the floor shifted A4LD, however they stopped that in 88. I was stuck with the colum.

Oh...the kickdown, just flip the lever on the C5. I had to shorten mine a little becauseit hit the floorboard, but a hammer meets floorboard would have been faster.

Yeah, the kickdown flips easy but the gear selector points up and needs to point down for the explorer cable to fit/work well. Thanks...
