a4ld center support bushing/washer question

When putting the center support back in the A4ld tranny, is the thrust washer on the back side of the center support made of hard black plastic? I thought I pulled a brass washer out, but the only one I have that was with the center support is black plastic. It butts up against the intermediate drum.


Is this correct?

Should be brass on a 91. Was this rebuilt before and is the plastic really thin? I think they sell spacers to put behind the washers to compensate for wear. Should look just like the one behind the pump, four grooves and no internal notches.
