Hey guys, I bought my explorer 2 weeks ago. The abs light was on, and I noticed two wires unplugged upfront, coming from the brake area. Well after I plugged them in, the light went off. BUT, now when I'm almost stopped, I hear like a pump noise and the brake pedal moves some and the steering wheel pulls slightly to the left. I have no idea what's going on, suggestions?

The wires that were unplugged are for the ABS wheel speed sensors and it sounds like you may have a faulty one. That's why the previous owner unplugged them because when your selling a rig, having a light on the dash is much better than the ABS kicking in for no reason ( I bet the previous owner told you he didn't why the light was on ). It's no big deal though so don't worry yet. First off the the ABS shouldn't kick in under around 10 mph. The right sensor is where I would start since it's pulling to the left, and that's because the left is getting full pressure and the right thinks it's locking up and causing the ABS to activate. You said the brakes worked fine before right, no front wheel pull or grabbing with sensors unplugged? Hope this helps a little, but I would have a talk with that guy for not being straight w/you to begin with because i'm sure you still would have bought it, I would. You can unplug them if you want without hurting anything, except no ABS. Also try cleaning the ABS ring and end of sensor before replacing just use brake cleaner and compressed air, it works more times than not if a lot of brake dust and metallic shavings have accumulated.:salute:

Yeah, with the abs wire unplugged everything is just fine (except the abs doesn't work obviously)

To get the the stuff I have to clean I have to take of the rotor don't I?
