My '02 EB has both the Ebrake light and the ABS light lit up. No codes come up in KOEO or KOER tests. Do I just disconnect the battery for a couple minutes to reset the computer and see if that works? Any ideas? The brakes work fine, I think it is just a glitch.:salute:

Disconnecting the battery for ten minutes and then re-connecting did not fix this problem. Again, retrieving codes came back all pass in KOEO, KOER, and CM. Any ideas or has anyone seen this symptom? Bad ABS sensor, brake fluid level, etc. Help.

Is this one of those "have to go to the dealership to have them reset the system" scenarios that'll cost at least $100 and five minutes of work?

I had just my ABS light on this week, just turned on when I started up one day, so I tested it and slammed on the brakes. They all locked up. I reset the computer, the light was off, tested again, and the ABS worked fine. I would say try resetting the computer again before you have the dealer look at it.

I've replaced the rear speed sensor and the switch on the the master cylinder. The dash readout is telling me there is a "brake fluid level error". Can I replace the switch inside the reservoir or do I need to replace the entire reservoir? Ideas?

Had the X into another shop and their machine could not communicate either. I have good power and fuses in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. The owner's manual labels fuse 29 under the dash as "GEM signal, moonroof, ABS module". The fuse is good but there is NO voltage in either terminal. NEED A WIRING DIAGRAM. Can the ABS module mounted to the ABS pump be replaced at home or does it need to go into the shop?

OBD II fuse is good and so are all the other fuses in the power dist. box. No blockage in the brake fluid reservoir and the float works fine. Suspect it to be either the ABS power module mounted to the ABS pump under the left headlight or maybe a front wheel speed sensor. Any thoughts?

Are you saying that auto shops can't scan your OBD II system, or that their scan tool can't communicate with the ABS module?

Did you have the key turned to acc when you tested for power at dashboard fuse 29? It's only hot at acc or run.

If you decide to get a new ABS module I recommend Directfordparts at 1-800-532-0819. That's where I got a very good deal on a new 4X4 control module. There are a number of ABS modules available for the '02s so no matter where you get it be sure they check by your VIN for the right one. Be sure to disconnect the battery ground clamp before you change the module. You could test the pump while you're in there too. Connect a fused (30A) jumper wire between positive battery terminal and red ABS pump motor terminal. Connect a jumper wire between the negative battery terminal and brown ABS pump motor terminal. Pump should run unless defective. Good luck - let us know how you make out.

edit: I forgot to mention an obvious thing - check the connector on the ABS module for damaged pins or corrosion. Disco the battery before unpluging the connector.

Midas and the other repair shop's ABS scanner cannot communicate with my ABS system leading me to think that I have an ABS power control module bad. DuH on the fuse 29 issue...I had a brainfart! Thanks for the advice on the VIN. I was going to get a used one but probably not now.
To get at the control module, do I have to disconnect the brake lines and undo the bracket? Or, can I undo the bracket and have enough play in the lines to get at the control module star bolts?

Replaced ABS control module mounted to ABS pump but still no ABS. ABS light still on constantly (never flashes at start up) and the warning center says there is a "brake fluid data error" still. Took the rear ABS speed sensor (just replaced in two months ago) out to check its resistance level and came up with 4.8 Mega Ohms!! Not open but damn close enough. Aren't they supposed to be between 800-1500 Kilo Ohms? Going to get a new sensor and see what happens. Still doesn't explain why I would have a brake fluid data error.

New Motorcraft ABS sensor is also measuring 4.8 Mega Ohms out of the box! Thought I had the problem narrowed down. Can anyone tell me how to check the rear and front ABS sensors? How much voltage should be developed if I hook up a multimeter to the installed sensor and spin the back tires? How much voltage should the front ones develop.

parking brake light fixed

Readjusted the emergency brake and the warning light went out. ABS light still on constantly. Wish someone had the resistance values for the front and rear ABS wheel speed sensors. Does anyone know or can they point me where to look.

No luck getting this ABS light fixed. Out of ideas and patience.
