I was just fooling around in the '02 X, i had it in 4Lo and got it stuck in the driveway(in a lil off camber type situation pulling off the driway into the yard) and 2 wheels began to spin, next thing I new, the ABS light came on. Put it back in 4Auto and it stayed on, turned the truck off and back on and the light went out. What happened? Is this normal. It doesn't have That Advanced Trac or anything like that, just Control Trac!

Good 'ole 02's :D

Don't you know the 4 wheel drive in those is fake?

Seriously though, when the tires spin wildly they can confuse the wheel sensors for the ABS. It's nothing to worry about.

I really wasn't worried(not my truck :D ) but it was just weird. So the '95s r smarter;) never got that, and i had the wheels "wildly" spinning. Either way, its just normal operation i guess.

Thanks,
TODD

It happened to me once in my 96. I was brawling through 12" of packed snow and had a hell of a time getting out of the field and back onto the road. I couldn't get through the plowed bank. I hit the bank spinning and did a 180 through the bank. after spinning in reverse to get backon the road the ABS light was on. It was wierd to drive i w/o the ABS. After I turned the truck off it never happen again.

My '01 does the same thing. As mentioned before, I think the sensors just get confused because they can't resolve the difference in wheel rpm. I've had it happen numerous times. Shut the truck off, fire it back up and it's gone.

Ok, atleast i'm not the only one who this has happened to. I've had the wheels spinning in the '95 in 4Lo, but didn't have any lights, either that or mine r burn't out:rolleyes: Another thing, i thought ABS was disabled in 4Lo?

Me too

That stupid light came on atleast 3 times today during one run... Got stuck on a root on a steep incline in the snow and any wheel spin would click on the ABS light. Good to hear its not just my truck acting wierd. Kinda annoying though....

anoying is rite! but its not my truck:D I had mine spinning up a steep incline in low and no lights. Go figure that one out:rolleyes:

ABS??

We finally got snow where I live, so I had to go out and play. After I got home and the truck sat for a while when I left again I noticed a buzzing noise that kinda sound like ABS initalizing. It happened after every time I would touch the brakes.

Could packed snow cause this?
