My AC Compressor blew up while I was driving it earlier this week. Thankfully the clutch did not lock up or seize, so I am able to keep driving it for now.

I am trying to get it back up and blowing cold air this weekend. I have a new compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube. Other than flushing the lines, is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks for the help!

Picture attached for reference.

you forgot to replace the condenser too, it's possible that pieces of metal are already in the condenser before it blew up. It happened to me but instead of rupturing the case, the clutch locked up.

Can these not just be flushed? Would the vacuum evacuation not pull everything out?

Just asking - not challenging.

The condenser has small passages that could easily get clogged, it could be flushed but there's no guarantee that it will be cleaned thoroughly (especially the metal shards that sticks). Also the flush only works on removing the acid build up, not in removing the metal particles. A high pressure hose will do that but there's no guarantee for the condenser. The condenser is designed such that the passages are in parallel (parallel flow), if one (or more) passage is clogged, fluid will still try to go through other passages that aren't clogged. If you have 3 out 6 passages that are clogged, that means there's 50% blockage in your AC system at the condenser, it will still work but will strain it over time. vacuum will only pull air out.

Try removing your orifice valve and see if there are lots of metal, if there is you're better off buying a new one.
