Ac compressors

My 2002 explorer xlt 4.6 v8 started making bad noise from engine compartment. I removed belt and turned ac pulley and it made bad grinding noise. I am not a fan of replaceing the whole compressor with a used one or spending the money to replace with a new one. I hardly ever use the ac due to loss milage. Is there a way to short belt this vehicle? Or should I try replacing the clutch bearing?

Not sure if its available or not but try looking for a belt designed for w/o ac.
