I used to have ice cold AC on all 4 front vents. My compressor was making a pretty loud clicking noise so I asked the dealer to check it out under warranty. Well they didn't do what I asked and just assumed it was cycling.. so they "sucked it dry and refilled it". Now my AC is only cold on the right center vent and passenger vent. The drivers vent and left center vent are luke warm. It is a very substantial difference in temperature. Does anyone understand the system well enough to explain how that could be and what I likely need to do to fix it? Unfortunately I am out of state now so this repair for thier incompetence will probably be out of my pocket :(

Do you have the automatic DUAL climate control on your model and is it engaged and set for different temperatures for the driver and passenger sides of the cab.

Thanks but no, I have the manual control with no separate driver and passenger temp controls.

Was there ever a resolution to this? I am experiencing the exact same issue with my 03 XLT.

sounds like a damper is jamed in place and not directing air flow

lol sorry i mean a blend door is jammed and not redirecting air flow (i work on trains and we call it a damper)

I have the same problem with mine and it is NOT the blend door actuator. I checked mine and it isn't the problem. I am still trying to figure this out but mine has the Exact same problem. Someone suggested that the fresh air door came loose and fell on top of the blower motor but I haven't had a chance to check it yet nor has he emailed me back about how to do it. I will let you know if I get a chance to check it or let me know if you get to it first.

fifferaz

How did you rule out the blend doors? It seems that would be the only thing that could cause you to get warm air on one side and cold air on the other as even with out dual climate control there is one for the pass side and one for the drivers side.

I would think that if you where taking fresh air it would affect both sides evenly.

Well the blend door that I ruled out is the one that goes up and down in the center of the vehicle. It moves just fine. I didn't see one that would differenciate between the left and right side, is there one like this?

I'm having the exact same problem as the original OP.

on duel climate control there would have to be a left and right blend door but idk about non duel climate control trucks but i have to agree that the fresh air blend door would not affect one side of the of the vents unless it came loose and blocked a right or left intake. try putting ur A/C on max (this cuts off fresh air) and see if the prob is still there

I broke down and brought it to my local mechanic

I finally had to bring it in and get this checked out as it is starting to get warmer here and I have a 10 month old. Turns out that I was simply out of Freon. Refilled, added dye and we are checking where the leak is on Wednesday.

Other than that, I am happy that my dash does not need to be taken apart. The shop cost me $200.

Seems that I have a similar problem with my 02 XLT -- Passenger side vents have much warmer air than the the passenger side's vents when a/c is on. a/c low pressure is fine (at 38 in the blue area). WHat could cause the problem? How to fix it?

If the reason us that the fresh air door came loose and fell on top of the blower motor, where is the fresh ais door located? how to get to that door and get it fixed?

I'm having the same problem with my 02 V6 XLT. System is full of R134.

Still searching for answers. As I mentioned in previous posting, some one in another in another thread thought that it might the fresh air door coming loose and falling on top of the blower motor.

I am still trying to find out where the fresh air door is located.

Any ideas?

I am also having the same problem on my 02 EB with dual climate control warmer air on passenger side. Someone has got to know what causes this.

I'm going to take mine to a local shop today and have it looked at. I'll post with my results when I get back.

Just saw this thread again... I haven't been on the board for a while. Get this... my truck has gradually corrected itself. Originally only lukewarm air out of drivers side. All winter I did not use the A/C obviously. This spring the A/C would get pretty cold on all vents but only after 20 mins or so of driving. Now, after some use, it finally gets cold on all vents after about 3-5 minutes. I don't know much about A/C systems but is there any chance they overfilled it with refridgerant or something, and it took a year for enough to leak out for it to work normally? I can't explain the improvement in performance....

BTW my compressor still clicks quite loudly on hot days.. but I don't think there's any way to fix a noise without replacing it, and if it still makes cold air, the noise can stay.
