welcome to EF!!! airflow thru the condenser? or could be fan clutch not pushing enough air?

What were your pressures before/after you added that can? Ambient temp?

Thanks! As far as I can tell air flow is good and clutch is working fine

I’m not sure of the pressure before I think it was completely dry because when I was removing the old unit no gas came out, however the can I added was only the small half size can I’m assuming that might not be enough for a dry system?

It requires much more. You also need to vacuum the system down before charging. You can’t just change a part and fill with refrigerant.

If you don’t have the proper tools (manifolds, vacuum pump, etc), y there is a good chance you can do serious damage to your system.

My gauge I hooked up was reading damn near close to 0psi lol

And to be honest I live is south Florida lol it’s already 95ish the past week and I dont have 1k sitting around to shell out on labor charges

It needs to be vacuumed to near -14.7 psi (29.92” vac) in order to pull all of the moisture and contaminants out. A vacuum should be pulled for a while, hour or more, to be sure of this. At 0psi, it’s full of moist air. So when you add refrigerant, it’s a mix. No bueno.

You can rent all the tools at most auto parts stores, oriellys near you?

They rent tools free , but do charge a refundable deposit

Sorry it's not the answer you are looking for but you'll trash the ac system if you use it much with air in it. There is air, and when compressed it'll turn to water, no bueno

Thanks guys, I’ll give it a shot on getting the lines vacuumed out properly as I skipped that step doing my repair because I was desperate for ac lol I work outside for 11 hours I but the bullet and did a quick fix

After reading everything and your area you live in. Advance auto parts are more common. You need to Also replace your filter dryer. Also you need to add a 0.5 oz of Pag oil to the dryer and evap. Don't let the system sit open, take some plastic wrap with a rubber band too seal the opening. Uses the plugs that came with the new evap. Add the oil to the dryer in your ( AC) house. Put the plug back in before you go outside. The evaporator you need a funnel with a flexible tip. Something like the one used for 1 qt oil bottles. Add that first, then I install your dryer, then pull the vacuum for a hour. It is very high humidity where you are, so best to do in the am. Look on your radiator support there should be a factory label with the AC system spec . max Freon and oil. You need the small amount because of only replacing dryer and evap. When you go for the loan a tool program, also get a AC manifold. Harbor freight in delray has a manifold for around $50 and a cap tap for self sealing cans. Because you live in florida, AC tool are like having ratchet and socket set to work on your car.

When charging your AC the max high side pressure should be around 220psi, and the compressor be running continuous. Stop charging when that happens. Ideally you want the compressor cycling and quite. Your center vent air should be in the low 40's at 87degrees F. Get yourself a digital temperature gauge at Wal-Mart in the kitchen section or target also carries them.

pag oil comes in three different weights. I don't know what the standard weight is in florida. I am trying to find a good and fair shop in your area. I go the honda dealer, and they are bad. There rate are high and service is hit and miss. My community band working on your car. But I do minor maintenance on the Q T. The problem I have now is the heat. The plastic is melting. I do all my own work on my other cars.

Yeah unfortunately I find a lot of shops down here can be very iffy and scammy when it comes to service which is a shame it give the reputable mom and pop shops a bad rep, have to keep my paint waxed and ceramic coated down here because of the sun of it will fade in a year

for the plastics i use trim protectant usually, seems to work decent here in LA. but i do have to repait bumpers though once a while

What I mean all the plastic inside the car. The interior is a oven. You have to keep the window close because of the rain. And it rains. I try to wax the exterior, but it so hot the wax dry fast. Has too be early in the morning and in the shade.

Clear on both of my trucks is starting to go. Black one has the clear literally flaking off, blue is badly oxidized above the windshield.

I think I may just pick up some color and clear and do a sand n spray.
