Add a Leaf

I know that people have drilled out the AAL holes... others have installed them but i wouldnt trust the small bolt. The double kit comes with a thicker bolt.

Good luck drilling.....thats your best bet

Update:

Well I called a machine shop yesterday and they said that they couldn't do it but reffered me to another shop that could... I called them and they said they wouldn't... They reffered me to a place called Denver Spring, that is all they do is springs... So I called down there and spoke to a lady and said that they'd just charge me real time shop rate... $65 an hour, but that I would be having it done at my on risk that they might crack or brake... So I took them down there, she looked at them, took one in the back and the guy said no problem... I gave them the size of bolt that had to fit through there and they came back about 10 or so minutes later... Total charge was $11.25... Not bad if you ask me... No hopefully they'll go on okay this weekend or whenever I can find the time and friends to help me get them on there...

Any reason you didn't drill them yourself?

Double AAL

No problem on a '97 4DR?

I currently have the (looks like 4 leafs) but I think it's one leaf with 3 things under it.

I've called many places and asked many people and nobody knows. I've ordered too many '97 parts that end up not working.

It should work fine. All 91-2001 4 Door Explorer leafs are the same.

Not exactally true. Replacement leafs are the same, but stock there were several different types. According to one place I went to they showed me a book which showed several different options for leaf springs and mine weren't the stiffest, but gave the most lift.

He said that the website I reffered to might be assumeing that most explorers will have a single or tapered leaf?

I'm still not sure about all this. Just know the rear needs 1-2"

any one else make double aals

who else makes em cause my local 4x4 shop doesn't carry pro comp and i don't wanna deal with ordering online and haveing them not work??
does trailmaster rancho superlift make any??
i need a double leaf for a 4 door leaf packs on a 98 sport.
i'm not sure what year X the leaf packs are off of.
will the add a leafs fit if i get some made for a first generation x?

After reading about how the bolt holding the leaves together can shear off under stress I'm a little concerned. Is this only a problem if the bolts aren't tightened to the proper torque? The numbers I've seen are 80 ft-lbs for the bolt holding the leaves and 95 ft-lbs for the bolts on the U-brackets.
