adjust your TPS (another free hp mod)

Just did this mod. Improved the idle significantly. I don't know if I can possibly get the idle any better than it is now. I checked with my scantool and there is no more than 50 RPMs deviation from 850 now at idle. Thanks James!

Maybe thats why I burn so much fuel, mine gave me a reading of 1.092. Now I have to get that drill kit open so I can remedy my situation.

THANKS JAMES T.

I attemped to do mine the other day, those metal sleeves are a pain in the arse! The two holes are very close to the edge and there is very little room to drill. If I attemped to drill/slot the holes, im afraid it will go complete thru. :(

My TPS must be different from yours? The way mine is designed I literally have no room to make the wholes any bigger...

DonM: I must have the same thing as you. I checked mine yesterday and it was at 1.083. So I undid everything and looked at the mounting holes and thought the same... how the h**@ am I gonna lengthen these? So I just tried to retighten it and then I rechecked on the multimeter. Guess what? 0.982V. So I said good enough and called it a day... well after I changed my oil to Amsoil of course!

Is this the right tool to use for this? What do I have to put it on to test it? Is the red lead plugged into the right spot or do I need to move it to the top one?

No, that's how it goes with the leads. If you look at the meter you have to turn it to the 20 or the 200(can't remember which one right now), in the upper left hand corner of the tester. Touch the black to a good ground and then the red to the appropriate wire.

I think he was joking ;)

Actually I wasnt. I have never used one of these things before and it isn't even mine. I read the previous posts but I'm not sure what all that means so I figured I'd put a pic up and have someone tell me where the setting was.

Thanks Joey.

Ooooookay now Im the sucker

Hey, don't worry about it. I know they sound like dumb questions, but what more can you expect from me?? I guess I should have paid attention in physics class

im pretty sure you want it it the top hole in the pic your testing ohms.

I have the same multimeter! err... had. I built it in electronics class. Just got rid of it b/c it wasn't too consistent though. You turn it to the 20v setting and I believe you have the leads right... just make sure the red lead isn't in the (A) amp reading.

Yes, you're leads are in the correct spot. I couldn't see the pic while I was typing!

James T,
My Idle is very smooth right now as it is, what changes would I notice after bringing my tps reading down from 1.092 to .96v?

Hey by the way you nitrous guys keep this paricular wire in mind because that is the same wire you need to Tee into when running your wires for you TPS feed for your modules. Just thought i would add that. By the way i just happened to give myself an excuse to buy my own multimeter last night. I havent yet told myself what that excuse is but i am sure i will think of it. I keep buying more and more tools lately and i love it! hehe.

Mine is 1.06. I think I'm gonna leave it right there rather than messing with it and breaking something.
