6000 miles 2020 Explorer XLT I4 turbo. Started about a month ago, the wrench(Power train warning) light would come on occasionally when starting the car cold and it'd disappear after a few miles. No other symptoms, no loss of power, no gear shifting problem I could feel. Lately the same thing became more predictable, every morning the first start of the day the light would come on and stay solid for several miles. My Walmart scanner couldn't pick up any code, the transmission specialist at dealer is scheduled a month out, any owners/techs have encountered same issue? Appreciated!

Fred Z,
Did you ever resolve this? I just purchased a 2020 XLT with only 14,000 miles. Twice now the light has come on. I took it to the dealer the first time and they supposedly upgraded software. That was Friday. Two days later, I get in the car to go and it happens again. This time there is some jerking like the transmission is trying to shift or something. I now have my second appt. to take it in. I haven't driven the vehicle even 200 miles yet.

I wonder if that is why the original owner disposed of it? You should be able to find that out from the dealer through the online service records.

Hi Cheryl, yes my problem is resolved now. The transmission specialist from my dealer did some test and believe there’s something wrong with the transmission pump. I think he basically swapped a new one in and it’s be running okey for several weeks now. If you need more detailed explanation I’ll see if I can find the work sheet. Fred

Two separate visits determined that the dealer that my dealer got the vehicle from had done a bunch of stuff to the transmission, switching out some internal parts including the pump, I think. They said they could not give me records from the other dealer, but they showed me on the computer screen. Anyway, the technician who did that work did not get a wire harness reattached properly and it was bouncing up against the drive train which was causing a the warning lights to come on. Have not had anything happens since.
