My OEM back up camera went out on my 2015 Explorer XLT, I replaced it with a doorman rear camera. The back up lines do not line up at all. I reached out to Doorman and they said it needs calibrated, I took it to Ford and the say they can not calibrate it. Does anyone know how I can get this camera calibrated in North Houston

I think you typically “calibrate” aftermarket cameras by physically changing their aim. Otherwise, the manufacturer should be able to supply directions on how to use their product.

Ford uses their IDS tool. Every camera replacement requires that it be programmed to the vehicle it's mounted on.

I’m guessing their scanner doesn’t play nice with the Dorman camera.

On my backup camera the lines are generated by the camera itself. Mine only has two options, both selected by jumpers in the camera harness. They are lines/no lines, and invert camera image.

Is this a legit price? Sorry this just feels to good to be true. How did you find this so cheap?
A few dollars less here; Original 2011-2015 Ford Rear Camera EB5Z-19G490-A | Genuine Ford Auto Parts and here; 2011-2015 Ford Rear Camera EB5Z-19G490-A | TascaParts.com
In my opinion, the last place you want to purchase from is the Ford Parts site; https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/electrical/sensorsdevices/camera-assy-7874147-1
AutoNation Ford seels 10% over invoice, Levittown is site vendor and has been known to provide a discount to Forum members.

Seems incredibly spendy for a $50 item. It’s an incredibly basic camera.

I'm not aware of anyone having installed a Dorman camera. I suspect it is the same as this one? 2011-2015 Ford Rear Camera EB5Z-19G490-A | Auto Nation Ford White Bear Lake
Some members have used FORScan to calibrate their OEM replacements. Did they say why they couldn't calibrate it?

Peter
Lots of people with various Ford vehicles of this era have tried Dorman cameras, some with upside down image so they mount the camera upside down, but all I've seen have the lines problem, try to calibrate with Forscan and it stops with an error at 8%. All attempts I've seen so far, gave up and bought an OEM camera, then were able to calibrate with forscan.

You wouldn't happen to have the instructions on how to set the jumpers for the different options would you?

They just plug and unplug. My camera isn’t a Dorman, but this is a pretty common thing.

If you are referring to the OEM camera for the 5th gen Explorer, I don't believe they have any 'jumpers'. The programming is all software-related.

Peter, Do you know how to configure on Forscan the aftermarket cameras, my image is normal (not upside down, or changed in any way), all sensing areas are working as supposed, but the white line guides are fixed on the left side, if i cannot make it work doesn't matter, i just want to disappear this Guidelines from the screen, is there an option to do that, i read on other forums that maybe cutting a wire fix this issue, i do not know which one i have to to cut?, and i don´t want to mess with the original harness (LIN cable), can you explain a bit how to configure in BCM APIM or the module that i have to modify? any help will be so much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Warlex, I do have the same problem. The white lines annoy me because they do not move. Have you figured out how to get ride of them?

I believe that if you have the curving white lines that indicates that your vehicle has Active Park Assist. Have you checked your Owner's Manual under Parking Aids? The camera settings have options to turn some of the lines OFF.

"Selectable settings for this feature are ACTIVE + FIXED, FIXED and
OFF."
