Has anyone installed a Wix air filter in their explorer? I currently have a K&N but have heard some really good things about Wix. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wix are excellant filters, but don't flow as much air as K&N.

I haven't noticed a bit of difference with my K&N. Just looking for some more options. Don't really wanna go with a complete intake yet.

I've used K&N filters in two different vehicles. My opinion is they're all hype and very expensive.Pick up a brand name filter at Walmart and the only difference you'll notice is the price.

Do an open-element and you'll notice a difference. The only point having a non open-element filter is so you don't have to replace it when you change your oil. You won't notice any gain.

i agree 100% w/ husky... I had the KNN w/ stock airbox... didn't notice a difference. The second i made it an open-element filter, I noticed a very nice difference.

If you already have a KNN, I seriously doubt there are any gains to be had w/ the Wix filter that will justify the cost in buying it.

open-element as in the K&N Cone-type air filter?

yea, just without the airfilter housing.

I agree on performance that the K&N was worth nothing. I do also want to say that it was worth a guaranteed 1mpg on both my 93XLT and my now 98 XLT 5.0.

I didn't notice any fuel milage increase as many said it would.
