here's how to do cold air induction
i cant post any pictures now because i'm at the beach for this week, but i can give you detailed instructions on how to achieve the setup i have now. its very inexpensive for such a big power gain, about 45-50 bucks for the k&n filtercharger drop in and about 5 bucks for 8 feet of 3" aluminum dryer pipe. i have the 98 XLT model with the rectangle foglights. I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OTHER MODELS, so if you have a different model, i'm sorry but i wont be of any help to you. anyway, here you go:
-first, remove the airbox completely.
-strip tie the k&n filtercharger to the rectangular air intake.
-remove the factory foglights. i only did this because i have hella 500's in front of them, rendering the factory fogs useless.
-run the dryer hose from where the airbox used to be down to the foglight opening. be very careful because it gets very tight, and the dryer hose is very fragile.
-the top end of the dryer needs to point straght up into where the air induction usually is, but so there's enough room that oyu can strip tie the air induction back in place without having it rest on the dryer pipe, becaues this WILL screw up your filter.
-strip tie the air induction right above the dryer hose
-disconnect your battery for about an hour or so. this will reset your computer when you start driving again, because you'll be getting a hell of a lot more air than before
after this, do whatever you'd like at the induction end of the pipe. i reccomend screwing it into the plastic with a washer, possibly puting a screen on the end, and in the winter, it'd be best to cover it completely. hope this helps! if you have any questions, just reply.
