I have a 2004 Exp.

I want to modify the airbox. I just purchased my K&N filter (flat) and was wondering if you guys could send some suggestions as to how I should modify the box. Any ideas?

Jeff

make sure you do this on the underside of the box... It would be a bummer to drill the top by accident.

Also, there is a flange in front of the airbox. I am sure you can remove it, but it seems to direct air from around the head light into it.

...so should the flange be removed? or should i just cut on the underside of the box?

what i did is cut a big rectangle hole on the bottom side of the box facing the fender. that way it creates a suction and the air has a velocity into the intake, much like a cold air intake. about one inch down from the filter and about one inch from each end of the airbox, about an inch wide. so it should be 1" x 6-7"

ok, so i modified and cut the box, but my question is... should I remove that air tube that runs from inside the box to the headlight? I believe thats the silencer? Should I just remove that entire tube or just part of it or what?

What kind of mod is this and what benefit would there be to it?

I'm waiting to sell him my stock box w/K&N filter. And we are in the STOCK forum.

youll just get more noise if you remove the port on the front of the airbox, the K&N filter is a good step.

why not get an MAF adapter and a cone filter....oh wait, because then you wont be able to find friggin bolts that fit so you can bolt it up!!!!!!

Yes, I'm pissed that I have a 3" cone filter sitting in my truck w/ the MAF adapter because I'm so lost as to what bolts to use to bolt up the MAF adapter....SOMEONE HELP!!! lol
