Hey all,

I tried to search for this and didn't do so well. My 97X is making an "airflow buildup" noise with some "flapping" noise on acceleration. It happens in all gears with O/D on and off. I recently removed 2 shield plates from underneath because they rotted out and sounded horrible vibrating down there. There is absolutely no loss of power or handling. Air filter is K&N, just cleaned it.

Any ideas fellas?
Thanks,

Jon

V6 SOHC...

As you accelerate up to 45 and 50 mph the sound builds up like a turbo. As the pressure builds up the sound "climbs" and gets higher pitched like its going to blow up. on a scale of 1-10 the volume of the noise is 2.5. its heard best from the drivers seat with the windows up.

Does the sound change intensity when you get on the gas or coast? If so, classic signs of a bad u-joint. If not, we'll keep askin' questions.

check if there is any hole in MAF hose..or intake line it happened to me I found a small crack which creating whissle sound while accelerating

The sound does change as you fluctuate speed. it seems like if you maintain speed you can get it to stop. I haven't really heard the build up noise this weekend. It might be something loose and rattling. There is a dull shaking sound which I thought was coming from the rear but after I got off the highway tonight it sounds like its coming from the front and its louder now. I think its time for a visit to the mechanic.
