alignment problems

Just got back from trying to get an alignment at Midas. Advertised price was 45.00 they had it 10 minutes and told me it would take 2.5 hours and 260.00 said the align cams needed replaced at 30.00 each and a big long song and dance so I left. Question is the exp is bone stock it pulls a little to the left and the tires look like they set in at the top. At 86000 miles should these cams be worn out to need replaced or am I getting stroked? Another place I called said 60.00 or 160.00 if the cams need replaced. Is this something I should tackle myself?

You can replace the cams yourself. I beleive that it's just a 12 point socket

The stock camber bushings should be allow enough +/- to align a stock Explorer.. Do you have any lift or non stock suspension? Where you in any accident which could have bent something? What size bushings did they say you need and was it for both sides? When I lifted my Explorer I needed to install a 3.5 deg bushing and my shop charges the amounts you listed... Of course you can install the bushings yourself without much difficulty.. You just remove the pinch bolt and then tap the bushing up and off (screwdriver, hammer).. Once off you just slide on the new bushing, tighten the pinch bolt, and then bring it back to the shop to get it aligned (don't drive any distance without an alignment as you'll wear your tires)..
