Can anyone recommend somewhere to get my alloy wheels refurbed on my Ex? The middles are powder coated and a satin finish but the outers are polished and have a little kerbing and light oxidation so I would like to get them back pristine.

I'm in Yorkshire but dont have a problem travelling if someone knows somewhere that can do a real good job.

Thanks

Problem I have is the UK Models have powder coated centres but the outer 3" or so of the wheel is polished, so the powder coaters wont touch them as they cant do the polished part and the polishers wont touch them as they cant do the powder coat, to get them powder coated and then cut and polished is nearly as much as I paid for the car so not an option. What I need is someone who does both

Thanks for the link though

Yes, to mask off areas of wheels for powder is very expensive as it takes a lot of time.

Now, if this was a true classic car I could see the need for a factory look. However, by coating the whole wheel, in a color you like, you could have "one off" wheels on your explorer, and, get them finished for way less money.

Just a thought. The coated finish will require no maintenance. Polished aluminum wheels require a lot of polishing, weekly, to maintain them well.

Just throwing it out there.

No thats a great idea thanks, I never thought of that I have a local company that does powder coating I'll see if they can do all the wheel as you are right much less maintenance

Thanks again

Id second that, the whole wheels powder coated silver or even black would look fantastic! there wouldnt be much polishing labour involved either as the polished surface is already there for the powder coat!

Ive had various things powder coated in the past and the finish is great, the weheels will definatly hold up through the winter weather aswell.

Company is in Barnsley and I think its the Huddersfield side of Barnsley, its where all the Subaru lads get there wheels done and I have seen some fantastic examples of their work. I'll call them Monday and get some prices and will post back.

Had a long discussion with a company called Metal Magic in Barnsley, contact

Metal Magic
Dodworth Road
Barnsley
South Yorkshire
S70 6DY

Tel: 01226-298544

I have decided to have all the wheel powder coated to the same colour and finish as the wheel centres costs as follows

£35 + VAT per wheel refurb charge
£5 + VAT per wheel for tyre removal and refit and wheel balance

Total price for job (all 4 wheels) £160 + VAT = £184 Bargain

I have seen previous work from them on TVR's and Subaru and quality of finish is excellent, dropping mine off on Friday turnaround is 3 - 4 days.

Hope that helps

best regards
Ian

I'd be interested in seeing some before and after pictures if you can take some!
cheers

With the weather and other things mainly busy with work I have not had chance to have them done yet but I am still planning to do so. Will keep you all posted when I do and post some before and after pics
