For starters, my car idles at 13.9v, for how long its been idling at that i dont know.

I installed my supercharger but didnt have it connected. I drove it a quarter mile and noticed that my battery light came on. I then checked thinking maybe the belt was slipping on the alternator. I rerouted the belt so that it would grip more and the light still turned on.

I then put my previous working setup back in and now i get a small voltage drop from my stereo at a lower volume than normal, and my headlights cause a small voltage drop also (but it returns to normal after its on).

I took the car to Kragen and had it tested and they said the charging system was fine but what the person did notice was that the cars voltage dropped a little at 2k rpm but had no suggestions. I then took it to a shop and had it tested again along with the battery and once again everything came up fine.

I have a feeling the alternator is bad but dont want to go buy a new one and still have the same problem. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

...The crash cart test is usually wrong...You need to pull it off and have them bench test it...Most auto parts will do that for free...;)

..Again, this is after you check all your connections since you've been tinkering in there..:hammer:

I triple checked the alternator connections. Ill triple check the grounds although I havent touched any electrical in over a month since relocating the alternator.

I thought the alternator was supposed to put out 14.4v normally, I do remember it actually doing 14.4v before.

Ill take it in for the bench test first thing in the morning after rechecking the wires.

Well everything seems fine, after driving it to work it was back to 14.4v in the morning. at 2k rpm it was registering at 14.4v. It may still be boarder line dying but ill wait till it happens.

The system must have taken a big blow running off just the battery for the few seconds the car was on.

The same thing happened again when I was triple checking if the belt was causing a squealing or the supercharger... It was the belt. It took a while to get the battery back to normal with the supercharger in.

Good news... I now have (probably the first and only) Procharged 97 Explorer :) . Hoping to get it tuned sometime within the next week, if not I will have a non tuned base posted as soon as I can.

well I am working on the same setup. how did you do the bracket work for the pro charger and what one you use. I got the P-1SC-2. But i am to afraid to blow engine the thing can run 19lbs of boost! And if i did i would need the accessory belts and mounting for the pro charger other than that i got the the fuel pump and injectors to handle it and a lot aluminum piping for the pluming part. Just need to install it maybe you could give me a few pointers on how I could solve half these problems. sorry i hijacked thread
