Am I the only one who REALLY wants an Impreza WRX?

I've changed my mind!!

Today I went to the Subaru Test Drive Clinic here in Calgary. You get to take the WRX or Outback 6cyl for a test drive. There are no salemen and nobody is trying to sell you a car. You just get to drive the piss out of the cars with no strings attached. We had a few presentations on the Impreza WRX and then went for a drive in the countryside. We then came back for a few hot laps around a handling course that had been set up. Then you get to pile in with a professional driver and they take you around as fast as they can go. Afterwards we filled out a survey and then they fed us lunch.

The WRX is an Impreza that is certain to impress! It is a damn fine car and for a 2.0L it pulls like there is no tomorrow. It revs quickly and once it gets going it pushes you back in the seat like a V8. Even with 4 people in the car it has tons of get up and go. I wasn't too keen on the big bug eye headlights but I think they might be growing on me. It you need a fun and fast commuter car this is definately the one.

For the Outback they take you for a drive and then you play around on a wet plastic surface and also do some comparison driving against a Grand Cherokee on the wet plastic. It didn't look like as much fun so I didn't bother.

The Test Drive Clinic will be in Vancouver next weekend. If you can get the time I definately recommend getting in on this test drive!!!!!!

The automatic really takes the sharpness off of this fine automobile. The standard is much more powerful and has much less turbo lag. Not to mention that the auto shifts way too soon to be able to use the power of the engine.

I like them a lot. But I love the 2.5rs a lot more. I also love rally racing. I would prefer to buy a '97 or newer 2.5rs and do a build up. About the same amount of money, but a lot more fun to have a custom car. My friend has a '00 2.5rs and it is one of the most exciting cars I've been in. I've seen him beat mustang gt's that have poor drivers. We used to go do pretend rally races on two tracks and construction sites. I would race him in the family honda cr-v. awd coupe vs. awd suv. It was a lot of fun. I could go on and on about that car, but hey, look at what I choose to drive instead!

Are you sure MX-6 have a TURBOOOOOOOO ?
I was thinking is a DOHC 24 valve V6
But if you swap it may be ... turbo.

Maybe in 2009 year....

I just sold my 95 240SX with tears in my eyes......

the MX-6 did have an available turbo (i think it was the same as the turbo Probes). i dont know if the MX-6 came with a DOHC 24 valve V-6, but my mazda 626 did.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd point out that the overseas version is probably coming out here. I think about 260-270 HP. Doubt it'll be as good as the current model available as far as bang for the buck, but it'll make a pretty impressive pair of cars. Wonder what it'll sell for? I think it's called a WRX STI/TSI something like that. I like them, but I agree the older headlights were better looking, more sporty. That and the a$$ end looks a little bloated or something--the car should be a bit wider. Cool car, wouldn't mind having one.

I have been wanting one for years. I had the opportuntiy to test drive one with my dad and between the two of us we succeeded in turning the face of the salesman green. The car is amazing. I would love to have one.

Oh, I think they're great. Best handeling car for the money. In australia the Police use them as they can really grab the crooks! The styling though could be better. I'm waiting on a new Mini....

I love them!!! too bad im a poor softmore in high school, or else i'd be all over it. 3 kids at my school already got them though.. i only like the black and the blue ones. so sweeeeet

Just thought I'd bring this to the table:

In '04 they're(Subaru) is gonna bring over the Impreza WRX STi... 280bhp, six-speed, better brakes, and two LSDs... gonna be a lotta fun.. I dunno how much it's gonna cost though..I'm already saving for one

Best of all though is the WRX wagon. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing! THere's a company called Cobb Tuning. Witht heir stage 3 package and few other goodies, the WRX will make 380 hp, and pull low 12s in the 1/4. I believe the 0-60 times are about 4.3 seconds. My brother has one, but he's kinda broke, so he hasn't doen anything to it yet.

Interesting little side note. If you know this, then you are really a Subaru buff. There was a model sold in England called the Impreza 22B. Now the rally team used to be sponsored by a company called 555. They are now tha sponsor again for the 2003-2003 season. Anyways, if you take the number 555 in decimal and convert to hexadecimal, you get... 22B. So basically there are 50 lucky Brits driving around in what is basically a street legal version of the WRC rally car. I'm quite green with envy.
