I need one of these. 224 HP stock. Give me a boost controller and 15 mins and I promise you I'll have it pumping out 250hp. All-wheel drive. I mean the coupe not the 4door or hatchback. I test drove the one they had at the Denver auto show...LOVED it. And w/ a MSRP of 25k!

Just me, the Impreza ,a full tank of gas and a gravel road and I'm in Heaven.

inline 4cyl w/ a IHI Turbo. The exact same turbo i have in my MX-6.

Yup

There's even buzz around the camaro/firebird boards about 'em.. Some like/love 'em, some think they're ugly, some hate 'em purely because they're GM diehards.. but some of the GMers are breaking down and wanting them pretty bad

interesting little fact though: I was really suprised at the 1/4 mile time: 14.7sec at 93mph. I don't have much experience w/ turbos, mainly supercharges (the american way), but I thought those turbos would've made its time/trap a little faster after they spooled up (anybody know to the RPM range for those turbos?).. Maybe low 14, high 13 (real high) w/ high 90mph to really low 100mph... Then again, i dont have much experience w/ turbos. BUT: does go 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds.. good enough for me till a start in on a modifying spree :D

Too bad it doesn't have the old body styled squarish headlights. Those circle ones don't relly fit.

i'll take one, i dig the hell out of those bad boys!

Actually its a flat boxer (picture a H) four cylinder engine with a turbo. This car looks like a screamer!!! I've read the MSRP will be around $23 and some change, but knowing how dealers like to gouge, especially where you can actually use four wheel drive like COLORADO, I bet it will be hard to get one for less that $28! I'm a big fam of this car. If I could talk the missus into getting one to replace the Integra, I would be set!!

The AWD system that is uses is now used in the Porsches. Originally Subaru had patented it and then Porsche bought the patent. I believe the boxer is also a relative to some of the Porsche motors. In any case, I drove one a year back(not the WRX), but it was a Rally version and that sucker was fast. I can just imagine the WRX. The dealer near me has one, I think I might run over for a test drive.

I think they're fug-uckly, but they'll spank pretty much anyone who's not paying much attention...plus if you buy the WRX, Subaru will throw in a FREE SCCA membership.
Subaru Impreza WRX and The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), a Winning Combination
2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Owners Receive Free Year of SCCA Membership

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 28, 2001 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), a pioneer of crossover vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, announced today a strategic partnership with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). As part of this unique partnership, owners of the high-performance 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX models will receive a complimentary membership to the SCCA, the leading sanctioning body for professional and amateur road racing, rally and autocross events in the United States. The partnership also designates Subaru as an "Official Supporter of the SCCA."

In addition to the free membership, 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX owners will receive a special WRX/ SCCA decal to promote their membership and twelve issues of SportsCar magazine, the official publication of the SCCA. Available in mid-March, the 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX models are part of the new Subaru Driving Performance strategy.

"Subaru Impreza models have been a popular choice among SCCA competitors in club and professional categories, therefore, this partnership is a natural step for Subaru," said Subaru of America, Inc. Vice President of Marketing, Bill Cyphers. "We think enthusiasts will really respond to the world class performance of the 2002 Impreza WRX, which elevates the Impreza performance heritage to an all new level. The SCCA provides a great opportunity for WRX owners to experience their cars' capabilities, while pitting their skills against other drivers."

Testament to its all-weather, all-road capability, the All-Wheel Drive Subaru Impreza is the reigning 2000 SCCA ProRally Production GT Champion. Subaru Impreza models also secured victories in the 2000 Street Touring Class at the SCCA Solo II Nationals, a Group N victory in the 2001 Sno*Drift SCCA ProRally and is a popular choice among amateur racers competing in Solo II competition, particularly the StreetTouring class.

"Our strategic partnership with Subaru of America, Inc. provides a winning combination for all parties, especially WRX owners," said Steve Johnson, President and CEO of the SCCA. "We look forward to WRX owner participation in our events for many years to come."

A World Class Performer
The 2002 Subaru WRX, available as a sedan and Sport Wagon, is powered by a 2.0-liter, 227-horsepower turbocharged engine. I love the game at www.impezawrx.com ! I can't think of a better way to waste time!

They rock. Have a 2001 RS in the family. And its pretty fast. Wish I could have a turbo one. And they don't look that bad. A good impreza page is

www.impreza-rs.com

Alot of stuff there. I'm also a member under the same name.

An other site for you

Do you want to see the professionals play with that thing? Dead Link Removed

Awsome pictures at the gallerie, but they are too big to put some up here

WRX Drivers dont like it when Ford Trucks walk all over them , that I do know :)

Mike

I'm thinking about trading my explorer for one of those, then paying off the rest. Does anybody know the 0-60 time for a automatic?

Well, according to

www.impreza-rs.com

the autos are REALLY slow compared to the manuals. More lag on the turbo for some reason. But I think would be decently fast.

yeah, the manuals can smoke audi a4s, saab 9-3s, volvo s60 T5s, BMW 325i. All of those which cost several thousands more.

I saw one at the car show. It didn't really excite me like the old 2.5 RS coupe did. Even with the turbo I think I'd choose an older 2.5 RS coupe over the new WRX. The round headlights look out of place to me.

nothing like the 2.5 RS

I will take the old version any day. The ugly round headlights and the pittiful flaired fenders. what the are the people thinking! I would take the a used 170 HP put a turbo on it for about 3K and stomp the S%^t out of the new one. They did a build up in a Jap. Mag and got 300 HP out of it.

Love em. And I have never owned anything but a Ford. If I was younger, single, no kids, etc, I would probably have one in my driveway.

I, too, like the look of the original Ralleye car with the different front lights.

By the way, I don't know why Ralleye racing hasn't seen WAY more popularity, I love watching it!
