Amp Problem

My new amp came (MA Audio HK-1397), hooked it up, protection light comes right no. The same thing happened with my other amp. The ground is excellent, getting 13V from power wire using the ground. What could the problem be? How do I test the RCA sub outputs in my HU? I've got a 150A ANL fuse and the amp has 4 25's in it, should I switch to a 100A ANL? My other amp had 3 30's and worked with the 150A. What reasons would there be for the protection light coming on?

try using a differnt source for a remote. I had a problem like that with my hifonics and I jumped off a 30A fuse in the fuse block (I think winsheild wipers) and It hasn't done it since

THANK YOU! I pulled out my remote wire and there was a huge smash in it. Cut that part out, works GREAT. I'm about to hook up my old amp. I bet that's the problem all along. $550 later! Thanks again!

The other amp still has a problem, my old subs do work though. My new subs have LED's built in, and when I connect the power wire to the remote wire my amp goes into protection mode. Think I'm just gonna leave the LED's unplugged.

I would venture to guess that the LEDs aren't 12v. Does the sub have some resistors or a manual telling you how to hook them up? The remote turn on wire has very little current going through it, enough to switch a 200mA relay to turn on the amp.

I'm sure the LED's are 12V. They worked fine when connected to the remote wire, and each sub has outlets for them. I'll bet there are resistors because they didn't change color or burn out.

Wire the LEDs and amp turn on from a relay and use the remote turn on to activate everything off the relay. Just pull the 12v out of your main 12v feed to your amp, and that should have plenty of power

yeah a relay is always a good idea if youre adding things like led's and fans and such to the remote output....
Another idea if your head unit has a power antenna output thats not being used, maybe you could utilize that for your led's but a relay would be easier...
