Amp: too much power?

hmmm cheap yet effective.. i hate to recommend it but the fact is a Power Acoustic amp would actually be good for your situation. they use mid grade components for a low grade price.

Would my setup absolutly suck with the wal mart amp, I would probably upgrade sometime at the end of the summer maybe. Would I be decent until then?

ok ill try but you might end up telling me lol amps is resistance right?

duh nevermind resistance is ohms

sno, honestly that amp is going to do the following:

move the subs.

That's about all i can say. no sound quality, not much quantity either. if you just want to get the subs moving, go ahead and get it. personally, i'd check with a local pawn shop for a good used 125.00 amp that may be on sale for 50 bucks or so. When your just wanting to spend on a budget, sometimes value shopping for a good used amp at a nice price is the way to go. that's totally on you.

onelasttry:

What wattage and brand do you suggest if i go with the used amp aproach?

gosh, there are hundreds. like i say.. the Power Acoustic isn't terrible for the $$$ neither are the lanzar vibe, or spl amps. We are talking the better of the low cost amps here. the possibilites are endless.

what about maximum watts per channel? not actual, but what it claims to. 100, 200, 300?

well, oddly enough a pyramid PB-1000 claims to be 1,000 watts and does 62.5 rms per channel. however a Power Acoustic claims 400 watts and does almost 100 rms per channel.

since there is no law against manufacturers overrating, they do not follow a standard.

ok onelast try i have a guess. is it 209.25 watts

i have a pioneer amplifier for sale right now in the for sale forum that you may be interested in. it will give you 70 watts by 2 at 2 ohms and the power will be much cleaner than from a walmart amp. i'd sell it for 75 plus shipping.

If i go with power acoustic, which should i get: 100, 200, 300, 400 per channel? I really appreciate your helping me like this.

i would also get you a swinging deal on an 8 gauge amp kit to hook it up with and any other install goodies you might want or need

that sounds awesome but being only 17 and my parents thinking that buying this stuff is a waste  so i will have to buy my amp somewhere and will not be able to buy online, sorry. :(

onelasttry:

Well i guess i will have to look around for a pawn shop and se what they got, still need to know what size amp i should get if i find some.

find one around 300 watts and see how it works out. since every manufacturer is different, you can only hope for the best.

redrig. your amp only draws 2.5 amps more than the walmart amp which does 31.5 watts per channel. your looking around 50 rms per channel after taking into consideration the power supply's consumption. If you play with those formulas you should get a combination that looks close, that's the one you want.

p.s.- that pioneer is a pretty decent deal. too bad u can't buy online. i just left fedback for a cd player i got from a guy here in the feedback forum. Slapped it in my work truck and it fired right up. :) lot's of good transactions online.

well the easiest thing to do is find an amp. dont buy it yet. go to a electronic shop or a car audio shop and tell them what you have and the amp you want to buy. they should tell you if it will fit your needs. or find one and ask here again before you buy.

300, ok... but how many channels, 2?

how's this sound- go get a money order with cash and your parents will never know. i promise the amp is in perfect working condition and you will not find a better deal. i've shopped plenty a pawn shop in the past and they can't beat this price unless you get very lucky. if you feel uncomfortable with it i'll even ship it the same time you ship the money order so the stuff can cross in the mail.
