So i was sitting around the house the other day and thought to myself "I wonder what a push start button would look like in my X" Has anyone seen/heard of this mod being done? If so are there any pics of it? I am currently looking into what all i would have to do to install one. Please leave me your thoughts, comments, or anything else u wanna say

You could wire one in--off of, or in place of-- the starter relay--
I use a handheld starter switch all the time when working on my truck--it would essentially work in the same way. This will crank engine, even with key off.

I would think you could install it by running 12v+ (yellow wire) in the ignition harness under the dashboard to the button, then from the button to the....I think purple wire in the ignition harness. Probably have to ground the button which you can do behind the driver side kick panel. That should work....

I have one in mine.
I can't remember exactly which wires go where. I'll look at it tomorrow and let you know exactly how I did it.
Actually, while I'm at it I'll probably submit it to the free membership section also to try to get elite status

I did one one mine, but with a little twist. I placed a push switch in line with the starter solenoid wire. You have to turn the key and push the button to start it. Gives me a little extra theft protection since my key is stuck in the ignition.

I still need my key, but only for the steering wheel lock. That way I can go start my truck on really cold mornings and let it warm up for a few min. with the doors locked while I'm inside drinking hot coco, lol.

On an '00, you'll still need to turn the key on before bumping the starter. The PATS will prevent ignition without the switch being turned to the run position.

Yeah, but this was a little cheaper. I do need an alarm though, since I run doorless durring the summer. Last summer I found a drunk dude passed out on my rear seat one late night!
