Today I noticed an annoying scratching/squeaking noise from the left rear wheel. It isn't like it's every rotation or anything, it's just random....strange thing is it stops when I put the brakes on. Any idea what this may be?
Thanks!

That scratching sound most probably caused by a worn brake pads. :hammer:

YEP! Its time to do a rear brake job.:frustrate

Really? Seems like it would be the brakes only if it happened when the brakes were on but it's the opposite. Well, I'm not the expert, that's why I asked :) Can you guys explain what's making the noise? Any suggestions as to where I should go for brakes/what kind I should look for?

The noise that you're hearing is the metal under the brake pads hitting your rotor. This is bad, fix it immediately!

There's a bunch of brake pad makers, but if you want high performance brake pads and rotors check out http://www.dba.com.au/home.htm

Midas does brake in case you haven't seen the commercials

Try jacking up the tire under the control arm to keep the weight on the suspension and turning the tire by hand. Try it with the tire straight, and turned all the way to both directions. Look to see if the tire is contacting anything or if it is getting close to something that it might contact during driving. My tire was hitting my rubber fender liner after I replaced the front shock absorbers. After a couple of days of wondering what that stange noise was I noticed that the liner was dangling down and was coming in contact with my tire when I turned left. It made a kind of "scrubbing" noise.
