Ok... I am thinking I went too far, but here is what I did.

I pulled the door panel. I removed the weatherproofing. I removed the rivets holding the regulator in place to gain access to the motor bolts. So pretty much the entire window raising and lowering assembly is loose. I removed the motor bolts, pulled the motor and rebuilt the motor with new bushings and put the motor back in (can you put it in the wrong position or will it only go in ONE way?).

NOW for the life of me I cannot get everything to line up to reattach the regulator to the door. I am terribly frustrated.

Is there some trick? Am I doing something way wrong? Help? I am really feeling pretty stupid at the moment. I have fussed with this damn thing for a couple hours with NO success.

I don't know if this will do you any good but I found a "how to" web page that actually shows the steps to replace an Explorer front window motor. The one on this page is a 1995 Sport so it may not be exactly what you are looking for. Hope it does help, though! Good luck!

Thanks.... that's how I *SHOULD* have done it.... but now I am faced with trying to reinstall the regulator.... and am not having any luck. I'm feeling pretty stupid. Maybe I should take the motor back out and try to reattach the regulator and THEN reinstall the motor.... I dunno. I just cannot get anything to line up. Thanks though for the thread !!

So sorry, Glacier! I don't know that much about window motors but I have a feeling I'm going to have to learn pretty quick! My right rear passenger side is going in my Camry and I'm thinking I need to fix it soon before I trade it in! (Gimme an alternator, starter, gas pump, water pump or anything else and I'm pretty handy! :D )

OH boy I remember spending a good deal of time messing with this when I replaced my drivers side motor (pass side, 290K miles, still works hahahah) I believe the trick is to lift the glass almost all the way up in the door and then set everything. I am saying this from memory and I am not even sure what you mean by regulator, in my 88 there is a motor attached to a single swing arm that moves the glass up and down.
I drilled rivets, repaired wiring, installed the assembly, bolted in the motor (after everything was in the tracks) lubed up the assembly, tightened and cut bolts to length (used nylock nuts) and put it all back together.

I doubt that will help and I am sure I missed something, but my point was I remember having to lift the glass up and down many times, fun by yourself, and also having to finagle the motor position around a bit before it would all go together...

Hopefully you have it figured out by now or somebody else who does these motors often can chime in :)

Its so damn funny on that 95 truck I put the 97 engine into, it took me like 1.5 weeks working by myself to do and figure out the entire conversion, get it running perfect, etc then I went to look at his back seat, which wont fold down and for the life of me I couldnt figure out how to get it apart! hahaha a friggin back seat had me stumped after replacing the entire drivetrain.....good news is once you ge tit figured out, you never have to figure it out again :)
(I could tell you if I was looking at it with you)

Thanks 410. That does help me some. The one person I haven't heard from....Monmix?
