Hello all,

I have a 2000 5.0 XLT with just over 100k miles on it.

I am getting frustrated with how difficult it is to replace the bank 1 sensor 1, I cant reach the wiring. I can reach the sensor just fine but it seems impossible to get the connector off. I read a thread talking about removing the center console and going in from the inside of the vehicle, but that must have changed after 1996 when they put air vents to the back seat. SO...if anyone has any tips on how to reach these wires I would be more than happy.

Thanks in advance,

Jamie

yes-
this is the easy way-although it may sound difficult-

First-remove the center console-
remove the cubbyhole part-then the cup holder part-
you'll see 4 8mm screws holding the console -2 under the heater controls-and 2 under the cupholder area
remove them-
now-loosen the 10mm bolt holding the large connector together-and disconnect the connector
lift the arm rest and remove the coin box -
right under it-you'll see an angled frame part of the console.
using a block of wood against it-hit hard rearward with a big hammer-you aren't gonna break anything. Go for it-
the console must move back about 2 inches. Now it is out-

carefully roll back the carpet-remover door jamb threshold parts if necessary

on the transmission hump is a removable panel-4 8mm screws hold it in place.
remove the panel, and look down:D
right there are your plugs:thumbsup:

Thanks for the reply...I will give it a shot this afternoon.
