Rigless!
I finally had the time to do the swap.

-HP D44
-5.13 and No-Spin detroit
-1.25 x .25 wall DOM, 3/4" heim joints.
-EB adjustable track bar.
-Wildhorses 5.5 coils
-big bronco upper coil buckets, cut and reinforced.
-big bronco RA and stock bracket.

Day 1: after 3 hours, we finished taking the TTB front end off.

end of day 1.

Day 2 and 3: this is where I wished I got the front end put together before taking everything out. I had about 6 spindle studs missing. Nobody in town had them and finally decided with a grade 8 bolt from ACE.

who tried to put the bearings in backwards?

done, minus the calipers and brake lines.

old tires, mounted and balanced on new 15x8 rims.

Day 4 and 5:
-got the front end under the explorer.
-worked on the transmission cross-member, it was on the way of the RA bracket.
-radius arms and brackets hooked up.

I had to cut the cross-member and weld it with the RA bracket. This is temporary and hopefully soon I can build a modified one with tubes.

Day 6 and 7:
-I had to cut and reinforce the fullsize upper coil bucket and did the tie rod.
-got the coils and track bar installed also.

track bar drop bracket and coil bucket welded in place.

wow:eek:

looks really nice..

i hoep to see it when its done... what size tires you plan on running? est. lift size?

PEACE

Thanks, I would like to run 36(SX) or 37's(MTR), depends if I get another truck. For now, just my old 35's.

lift size= around 8".

Dude its going to look awesome.

Awesome Dude. Sorry I didn't see this post sooner.
It's coming along very nicely. If you need help putting the wheels on, I'll give you a hand! Are you gonna put blocks in the rear for now, or are you gonna re-spring when you get the 9" in? Damn, dude, as soon as you are done, we are gonna go out to Cheiva falls for sure. We will tackle that hill that got me last time!! I know I CAN make it now, I just need a spotter.

Later,

Andy

looks good man!

Thanks guys!

I'm putting in an OME leaf for the rear, no blocks. It's on all fours now but still no drag link. I might have to cut the link, reuse my heims and drill the pitman arm.

I still have to do some reinforcements before I drive it out anywhere. Come by this weekend, I'll be there for sure.

Do you want a full size pitman arm? I have a stock one from an '80's bronco. You want to try it?
Let me know.

Looks like the install went well. Can't wait to see finished pics and flex!

Thats a sweet looking truck. Can't wait to see the finished product..... and definitely some flex shots ! :D

I've probably asked, but when do you get your 9"? You need to take another week of leave and finish this thing off. We need to take it out SOON!!!!! I haven't gone in so long, that my "itch" is turning into a rash!!

HURRY UP!!!!:hammer:

I won't have any action shots for awhile, until I get my 9". I will have mismatched ratios, 5.13 on the 44 and 4.56 on the 8.8 .
The axles shafts for the 9" are getting narrowed, probably the reason why it's taking too long.

What type of welder are you using, welds look good I think but I'm not a welder. I just started, learning with a Lincoln Mig 210 that my engineering department has for our senior projects, my welds don't look quite that good. Mine usually look more convex instead of nice concave stacked dimes like yours. But they are getting better. Anyone have any good welding tips?

I'm using the 70's era Millermatic 35 :D. As long as it's a 220V, it should do well and just practice... work on your settings too.

here's a pic...

WOW dude... it looks awesome. I was hoping to see it before we leave; things have been crazy for us. I have to dig up your #, we are in TLF on base but I'd love to have a beer with you and Andy if you guys are up for it. Let me know.

Nice!

I'll get there someday...soon.

Here's how it stands today. Don't mind the drag link.:p
