This may interest some of you... When I had the Torque on Demand t-case in my truck, I disliked having a separate switch to have 4high because sometimes it was accidentally left on resulting in a dead battery....and I wanted it to have a stock'ish look. So another solution if you like your 4auto and 4high....

You can take the GEM module from a 97 truck and 97 only and must be a 4door if yours is 4door or Sport if you have a Sport.
Disconnect the positive cable from the battery, pull your radio and bezel out of the dash, unplug all four connectors, remove the screw holding the GEM in (may require the removal of the center dash duct) and then install the 97 GEM in reverse of removal.

Once the dash is put back together, hook the positive terminal up, and then you need to unplug a pig tail under the hood at the passenger side (located in front of the air filter tube) You maybe curious what this plug is, it controls your vacuum disconnect axle, by disconnecting this plug the axle is "live" all the time now.

Once you unplug that, leave it unplugged and you now have Control trac like the 97+ Explorers. Your 2wd position is now Auto, 4auto is now High and Low is still low (change the bezel to a 97-01 if you like). I used this for months until I finally installed a manual transfer case
