Yes i do i have an aussie locker, 265/75/16 muds from pepboys, and air shocks and torsion twist to get the ride height up and i can get up all the trails that the 4x4s can. I go to the hungary valley srva about 2 times a month its alot of fun.

I've done plenty of offroading in my 2wd mountaineer, to see pics and mods check my signature. I've been to Hungry Valley several times as well, lots of the trails are doable there.

damn your mounty is hella tight makes me wanna lift my explorer

2wd offroading can be just as fun as 4x4ing my friend has a jeep and it just happens to be a 4x4 and there are more trails there that i can do than he can do. hungary valley as a great place to lean to 4x4

is hungary valley near the bay area?
i never heard of it

Thanks for the compliments. I coulda guessed you were from up north after seeing the word 'hella.' ;) Haha.

No it's in southern california, maybe an hour north of LA.

Before the Explorer, we used to go wheeling in a locked 2 wd Van...

The biggest issue with 2wd isn't always the 2wd. Not having low range limits the amount of torque you have to "finess" over obsticles(sp?).

Here a few pics... and yes I did get it stuck a few times.. :)

You have to define what "off roading" means, cauz there are plenty of 2wd "off road" vehicles out there that are a work of art, and are very capable for their specific purpose:

hey maniak how lifted was your van?

hey maniak how lifted was your van?

Barely.. 2" in the rear using air shocks (yes I know.. not good ot do) and the front was 1" from spacers.. 30 or 31" tires.. I can't remember what I ended up with at the end..

The underside of the van was in really bad shape..

I posted a really old video of it in action on youtube..... basicaly, I was trying to not flip it on its side.. :)

Here is another one.. You can hear the exhaust clamp that I already knocked loose sliding down the pipe..

Mine is 2wd until I lock the hubs and push a button.
:D
I use 2wd till I can't get any farther, one time I got myself stuck so bad in 2wd, 4wd was useless and I spent 2 hours digging my ass out.

search Torsion Twist and either Add a leaf or warrior shackle.

2wd is not bad provided that you are prepared to accept the fact that you will get stuck. Remember to always go with a buddy and to have some form of recovery other than a tow strap. High Lifts are $60 and the winch accessory kit is less than $100. that is a great place to start if you dont want a winch or lockers.

How are you liking your locker? Any surprise encounters with it on the road?
