Yeah I smoked my water pump on my Ex.

Spent near two hours sitting on I-95 waiting for the roll back to show up :(

Then Blee slows up with Lemonade Gatorade !!!!!!! :)
Now that is one cool friend !!!!!!!!!!!

Any way, I have a new OEM water pump sitting on my tool box and I will be instaling it slapping it on by this weekend.

Has any body here done this swap ?

Any heads up ? It all seems straight forward to me, but it doesnt take but a moment to ask if any one has " been there done that "

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!

If you get the fan off you have already won the battle. Make sure you have everything you need too like,
-new belt
-RTV
-thermostat (reccomended for WP warrenty)
-razor blades
-sand paper (for the hard to get off gasket material)
-and allow for about 4 hours of time (my fan took me about 2 hours lol)

Go to autozone and pick up the fan clutch removal tool.

Hey guy,

The hardest part is removing the fan, make sure you break it loose before you remove the belt. From there it's all pretty easy, the hose on top of it can be a pain and If you don't have a large enough set of pliers to remove it I'd recommend replacing the clamps with worm and roller types. You won't have any problems!

Later Doug.

4 hours !?!?!
It only pays 1.9 !!!!!!!!!

Any way, yeah I have a fan tool.
T-stat less than three months old, not gonna bother with that.
Belt less than a year old, not gonna bother.

So the only hurdle is gonna be the fan.
Thanks for the heads up !!!!!!!!

I'll let ya know how it ends up.

Man that stinks. It was pretty hot and humid today. At least it was mostly cloudy. If it's about the same as changing a pump on an OHV then it's not that big of a deal. Good luck.

I had to cut my pump off to get the fan off. Would not unsrew. Then we literly had to brake away the meterial around it. Fan screw right back on to the new pump though ;)

You're making me nervous man !!!!!!

Kevin, with the fan tool, the removal is cake.

While you have that POS factory off, you might consider doing an electric fan; you have already done the "hard part".

Good luck .........

awwwwwwwww shoot Al, I wish you hadnt said that :p

Nah' too late in the battle plan.

I'll get that electric fan in one of these days though.

Went off with out a hitch.
Took two hours not including warm up and burp the system.

The only real pain was cleaning off the old gasket, and seeing what I was doing.
I took the rad out but left the condenser in since it really gave me no additional space any way.

Thanks for the tips and heads up. The whole project went very smoothly thanks to you folks.

Glad to hear its not the nightmare I thought it was. Zorro rides again. :D
