Anyone has used in his Exp the Rancho 5000 and Rancho RSX ?? any difference between them ?

I'm thinking to get a stiffer ride in my 91 Exp, it bounces too much and I feel the sharp bumps very hard, but I just have two options: 1) Rancho 5000 , 2) Rancho RSX

I made a search of threads related to the RSX but not too much results... I think because RSX shocks are pretty new.

The Exp is running Monroe sensatrac, Will I feel some difference with any of the Rancho shocks ??

I'm specially interested on the RSX, because when they are free they tend to expand ...and the 5000 not, they need to be pulled to expand.

No comments about rancho 9000 please, I know they are excellent, but too expensive for me.

Thanks for your replies.

I love the 5000's....very impressive shock.

with the comments in this forum , it seems to be !! ... but I have read that RSX has Reflex technology and the 5000 not.
I think the RSX has a better dynamic performance than 5000 . But I'm just speculating ...

Anyone has used the RSX ?

Old thread, I know...

Bump.

RSX vs 5000s?

What's reflex technology? I'm happy with my 5000s, they do produce a nice firm ride.

Just put in new RSX shocks. I really like them. It does make for a stiffer ride when combined with my 4-door leaf-packs, but it's not jarring at all.

I have the RSX on my Explorer now and love the ride. I had the 5000's on an older Bronco II and it was a good ride too. I also have a set of 9000's with the incab dual guage and setting controls from another Bronco II, and that was a great ride too.

I would go with the RSX, just my suggestion.

I have had rsx's on my 96 5.0L Explorer for a while now, great shocks, great ride, good for towing. I like them

I have the Monroe Reflex shocks in front, they do well for my work truck. They are the same as those Rancho RSX, and under $50 each. Regards,

Got the 5000's, they're great. Very noticable improvement from the stock shocks... which were btw... complete toast.

I had RSX's and switched to 5000's. I'm MUCH happier with the 5000's. But it all depends on what you want. I thought that the RSX's were too stiff, I like the ride much better with the 5000's. With the RSX's my truck would start fishtailing on slightly wash-boarded roads at 20 mph. Now it's 25 mph or so before the rear end starts floating about.
