2007 Sport Trac Limited
I have a 2007 Sport Trac Limited and the security key pad does not work. I just bought the truck in February and tried everything before leaving the dealership.....except the key pad. I have the original key entry code and followed the proceedure to re-set to factory, but it did not help. So....I tried holding the last two buttons to auto lock the doors and nothing. The truck is under warantee so having it looked at is not a problem, but I don't want to take it in and find out I missed something stupid. Any suggestions???

Try each button-

make sure all lights are off. Push 1/2 and see if hte lights come on. If they do, wait until the lights turn off, then do teh same with 3/4, then 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10.

If one button does not trigger the lights, that button is bad, and if it's 7/8 or 9/0 and 7/8 or 9/0 are part of the factory code, that would explain why you can't change it, and why 7/8 and 9/0 together don't work the locks.

If it does nothing at all, your keypad connection/innards could be junk. Have you checked fuses, etc.?

I know it is not a fuse.....when you hit the buttons they light up, but I have not tried them individually to see if they light. I will give that a try and see if have do have a faulty PB. I will check it now.Thanks...

Well.....ckecked each push buton individually and each one did light the buttons, so probably something internal. Next time I have it in for service I will have them take a look at it. I still have full bumper to bumper until May with zero deductable, so will have it looked at.

It'll be interesting to see if they replace the keyless module...

Take it to the dealer and have them fix it if its under warranty. I wouldn't check anything. It's free.

Well......went to the dealership today to have the truck serviced. I had them look at the entry key pad and the service guy stated that my keypad is not OEM. I don't think he knows what he is talking about. He stated that the pad on my truck is a Ford keypad, but not the one for the Sport Trac. Due to this fact he said my Extended coverage will not cover the repair. My truck is a Limited and is loaded, so I would bet that this guy is wrong. I also have the original paper work for this truck which contains the security code card. I don't know how to prove this is OEM, but I will sometime/somewhere. I have been looking for pictures of 2007 Sport Tracs with OEM security keypad entry to compair mine to but have not found any good ones yet. I am not sure what year they started putting the key pad between the doors, but mine is located just under the door handle. The service guy took me over to a first generation and pointed out where it's keypad was located and style, but I know they are not the same as the 2nd generation. If someone has a 2007 with the entry keypad....take a quick snapshot and post it up. I can compair it to what I have.....Thanks

Yes....I saw those while I was searching, but not the same as mine. The service guy stated that mine is a Ford key pad, but placed on the truck after purchase. Then he said that would be considered an add on, so no coverage under warrantee.

Plug your VIN into THIS and see if it lists keyless entry.

sounds like a bunch of fooey to me.

I also have a 2007 limited and it has the keypad on the vertical beam of the door not under the door handle, so in that regards it sounds as though the service tech may be correct, but since you say you have the original paperwork with a security code, that doesn't seem right either. Maybe you have some type of early program car or the paperwork is misleading? I can't imagine a factory keypad being under the handle though.

Truck is used. Maybe it was in an accident and they replaced with a standard model door that had no keypad on piller. I have the 2008 model and it also has the keypad on the piller.

I have an 07 XLT with the touch pad on the pillar/between the doors like PJ07's. Is it possible what you have is a dealer add on (the original selling dealer). I got a copy of the window sticker for my 07 (bought used as well) from Ford, snoop around on the ford web site, and you can download the original window sticker or facsimile with all of the OEM installed equipment.

Must have been an add on because the Car Fax was clean. This truck is a Certified Pre-owned thru Ford. Maybe the Tech was right. I will look further into it. I talked to a guy at another Ford dealership and he said Ford did have an aftermarket version. He is going to look up the paperwork and see if he can find the directions for programming.

Thanks for the pic.....that explains a lot. I have seen the key pad on the window beam, but thought that was on a newer model. I guess all the Gen 2's have the keypad set up that way unless it is aftermarket (like mine).

Thanks again...
