The Pros: Firm shifts, shorter throws, looks cool, lets you use the center console double cupholders that the stock didnt, solid clicks let you know that you are in gear solidly and tighter shift pattern. And its a snap to install.
The cons, Price, noise and the urge to destroy your tires
I might have to get one just I won't have to switch my coffee from one cup holder to the other just to shift. Why didn't the ford put a better shifter in to begin with............
I know everyone is going to think I'm strange. But when I installed the shifter extension with my body lift, and my throws became even longer then stock I loved it. It makes me feel that I'm driving a big bad ass truck (which I am when I have a 16" throw from 1st to 2nd.
I installed hurst shifter with 3" body lift no problems I just installed two 1/4" plates one on each side of shifter to make it 3" longer works great. Now the noise every one is wondering about is normal it's the same sound the old 3 and 4 speed stick shift trans. made do to steel shifter. Factory shifter is built to absorb sound. It shifts great looks great. I also have 33x12.5 tires with the 3" lift no problems stock wheels. I hope this helps.

i heard that it takes more effort to shift with a short shifter because there isnt the same leverage as there was with the longer stock shifter. should i worry about this or just get used to it?
For those of you worried about the shifter being lowered when you do a body lift, check out the Hurst catalog. The have a large assortment of shifter arms, with various lengths, bends, and contours. I am very sure that they all are interchangeable as far as the attachment to the shifter mechanisn is concerned. They are there to accomodate various seat/interior/console situations.
