Has anybody towed an Explorer on a tow-dolly?
Did you disconnect the drive shaft? And if so, what do you do w/ the driveshaft? Just tie it up somewhere underneath? I'm planning on towing it behind a rental truck from TX to FL.

does a dolly lift the front off the ground or does it hook up to the front and turn the front wheels? If it lifts the front and you have 4X4 then you would need to disconnect something to keep from destroying the t-case... right? sorry not much help.

A dolly lifts the two front wheels on the ground

I'd pull the driveshaft, get a sandwich bag and a rubberband and cover the tailshaft of the tranny, and then get a large bag or sheet of plastic and wrap the shaft up and stick it inside the car or the tow vehicle.

Unless it's a stickshift, then just throw it into neutral and make sure it stays in neutral (ie. tie the shifter down)
