I seriously considered selling mine this weekend.
Here's the story.
Last weekend I put it on jack stands in my warehouse and pulled the front drive shaft. I had a vibration and growl from the front.
Both ends of the DS were shot. So I ordered one from Detroit Axle. It came in Friday night.
I put it in Saturday. It was an all day ordeal which proved Murphy's Law many times.
Once it was in I started it and put it in drive while still on the stands.
It immediately started screaming like a Banshee.
The CV end was trash.
So after a horribly frustrating day I decided to put the 4406 in. I've had all of the parts for the swap for months.
So today the console absolutely refused to come out. 2 1/2 hours later the console finally came out.
After running and getting a new universal for the socket, all the bolts for the TC were out.
After letting the fluid drip into a bucket I started sliding the TC further back.
It caught me off guard and came free.
I thought I broke my left hand when it got caught between the TC and the bucket.
It's not broken, just sore as hell.
So after all weekend I'm left with my truck in pieces, but ready to start going back together.
Guess what I'll be doing in the evenings this week.
I just have to find a jack that will lift the 4406 high enough to get it in.
A lifted truck that is sitting 6" off the ground on stands makes it fun trying to get a jack that will raise it up that high.
Wish me luck.
