Anyone paint flairs on Eddie Bauer?

Hey guys, I have a black 2000 Explorer E/B with tan trim, Im debaiting about painting it black to match the exterior or painting it gunmetal colour (myself)

Has anyone done this? if so any tips or pics?

Also if anyone can suggest what paint would be best to use and how to go about doing this along with how to remove any of the parts I would greatly appreciate it. Saves me having to find out on my own lol

Seen that thread, great info but Im looking for someone who did the flares not trim
