in know a few F150 guys have sucessfuly. my F150 key fits in my 98'x.

hmm, I will be checking into this. My F150 doesnt have a shroud around the key like my Explorer does. This may be the deciding factor.

after a little searching, it looks like it is the Fusion key they are using. And, it looks like it will fit in the ignition.

any idea what year fusion they started using those keys. and how much one wold cost. the PATS key on mine cost 26.25 and I think the fob was about the same. even if it was more than those two combine it would be worth it to me to have one less thing hanging off my key chain

I would already have tried this if I had more than one key for my truck- I can't program the key with just one original :(

Yeah, that stinks- its now a dealer only programming procedure. Don't loose the key you have!

It was $200+ to have a new key and fob made for my explorer at the dealer

It would be interesting to see if this would work, for bragging rights at least.

I've been looking for an Edge key. It doesn't have the trunk. I may have to settle with the Fusion. If this will in fact work.

I thought I remembered someone saying the PATS system changed, but I'm not sure. If I have time on one of my days off I'll stop by the dealer and see if they know anything.

ya it cost me $50 at the dealership to get my spare keys programmed. it was the same price programming no matter how many they program. but if you don't want to spend the money you can send that fusion key to me,I'll program it to mine and report back with the results.lol but seriously how much did the key cost you. I would like to try this but spending $ on mechanicals. but soon as funds become available

I am glad you said that- I saw the trunk button and didn't like it. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one that is **** about things like that.

If you have a remote with a trunk button, it just makes the lights come on like the unlock button does :)

Without unlocking it?

Hmmm...

Maybe I'll go talk to my Ford mechanic neighbor about this. he has an Explorer also, so he might want to do. He might be too busy to do it though...
