2012 Explorer
I have a 2012 Explorer and the APIM went bad. I ordered one thru a local repair shop. They gave it to me with a sticker on it that said it was programmed to my VIN number. I was hopeful that I could just plug it in and it would work. Instead, I plugged it in and it gave me a black screen with a note saying "SYNC - This module has NOT been provisioned" and a couple options 1) Start Wireless Provisioning 2) Bezel Diagnostics. There was a sheet that came with the APIM that said do not use wireless provisioning because it is just for use at the assembly plant. Any idea how to make this work/provisioned? Note: I do have Forscan if needed.

The dealer or someone with licensed IDS and PTS access has to do it.

As you found out, nothing is really that simple.

I thought that I saw somewhere in a different thread that it was possible with Forscan but I cannot seem to find that thread again.

The answer appears to be in post #2. BTW, the member you quoted hasn't been active here since May 16th.

Jason, If an APIM goes bad, what is the most cost effective way to replace it, that also ensures it works? TIA
