Just put it in this afternoon. Performance was as expected - a little more seat-of-the-pants power and certainly firmer shifts.

The job itself was easier than any other job - except maybe a drop in air filter. It just took me a while because I'm OCD and spent about an hour cleaning the terminals on the service port very carefully.

If you have any questions or need a few tips, drop me a line.

OCD ?

OCd = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

It's good to clean them well. Mine weren't cleaned enough the first time, I could tell when my 'Check Engine Light' was on and the idling was horrible. Glad to hear you got your chip installed, hope you like it, I know I do!

Keep us posted on your mileage as well as performance.....

sorry to bust this thread, but i put in my flip chip from apten a few days ago. mileage has definately increased, and power seems a bit more than usual, but i havent used my 93 octane program, but the 87 one for gas mpg. ive been revving to 4-4.5k every time, and my gas mileage is better than it was revving to 2.5k. ill try try to get #s when i get home next time. 420 mile drive home. normally i get 13-15 mpg on highway, so we'll see

So on the 87 side there is STILL an improvement?

honestly i cant tell if there is an improvemtn just in my head because i have the chip, or if there really is an improvemtn, but even in the stock gas mileage 87 octane setting.. i seem to be getting better gas mileage. ill try to get some more accurate #s soon. i wish there were free dynos around.. lol

I meant performance

oh.. sorry.. well i didnt get an 87 performance burn. i got 87 best gas mpg, and 93 best performance. i havent really tried the 87 best mpg, because the throttle response seems slower, prob because of itz settings, but i havent played with it enough to notice any diff. hopefully i will see a diff with the 93 performance.

MONMIX--mines burned for 92 and honest to God I cannot get less than 20 mpg, and I HAVE tried. I am not easy on the gas by any means. Take off at or near WOT from about 80% of stoplights, and do just about everything else that would not get you good gas mileage. If you want performance, just get it burned for a higher octane, your mileage is going to go way up too. If youre just wanting mileage, get the 87 program. Go big or go home with the octane/performance, thats how I looked at it. The difference $$$ wise between grades is not an issue when I get at least 20 mpg in the city, and have hit 26+ on the interstate, even less of an issue when you consider the performance you are getting. I pay another 3 dollars a full tank for the 91-93 octane fuel. Full tank 87-- $33.40 Full tank 93--$37.40 with the current rediculous gas prices here. Sure, thats almost 2 gallons, but average mileage is up from 15-17 to 19-21. Thats another 80 miles a tank. 2 extra gallons of 87 isnt going to do that. And its not as fun!:D

edit/add--I typed all this under the impression that you are still trying to decide what to get a single program chip burned for, as a recall several other posts with you questioning the same thing. Or are you looking at getting a flip chip now?

How much is this chip and where do you get it? Is there a group buy?

man im have been waiting weeks for brian to get back to me i will take your word for it that hes a good bloke. alot of people here say nice things about him. i keep messageing him . I have super chips e-mailing me twice a week raving on about how i should buy the local product at twice the price and half the advantages

ok.. just got home from my 434 mile trip. the first 303 miles, i put my flip chip on the 87 best gas mileage setting. i got 20.2 mpg. filled up, and went the rest of the way home with the 87 stock setting. no numbers cus i havent filled up yet, but i believe the gas mpg to be a lil worse, but not too significant. maybe 17 or 18. so the best gas mpg setting give me 2 or so mpg more. but the pickup and power is lacking in the best mpg setting.

this might not be good for most, but i was getting 10 city, and 13 highway, with a best of 15 on highway until this chip.

Well with out question I am getting the flip chip.
I commute to Raleigh N.C. from time to time.
Three hundred some miles. One tank down, for some odd reason I can not figure out one and one quarter tank back. ( no tangents now please )
I figure it would be best to have the flip in light of that.
But maybe I wanna leave the rest area in a flash ( for what ever reason ) I was just wondering if my 87 performance will be improved.

i think i might send my flip chip back to brian later in the year if i get new tires. i wana get some 30x9.5, and so ill get the chip recalibrated for that, and prob get rid of the 87 gas mpg program, and just put a 87 performance one on. i think the 87 stock gives me good enough gas mpg where im happy.

i was getting 200miles a tank before this chip. now close to 400. damm impressed

Matey, how have you been trying to get ahold of me? My e-mail address is bjherron@apten-us.com, and I don't think I've seen anything from you. Shoot me a message and I'd be glad to help you out.

Brian

hey mate i messaged ya on the horn and the e-mail

just filled up with 93, and put the switch on 93 performance. i felt the power increase, felt the shifting firmed up, and couldnt seem to get my foot off the pedal.. very very pleased
