The chip will be tuned to your engine size and type, any mods you have made I:E exhaust, intake, Maf etc, tranny type so on.
Also make sure to tell them if you made a tire size change from OEM so they can correct for ODO readings
They can remove the speed limiter and rev limiter if requested
You give me your price... I had a '99 Explorer Sport with the 4L SOHC. It's a dual program chip, one 93 octane performance, one 89 octane performance. Computer code CDE2.
If you want it, I see you live in oldsmar. I will hand deliever it to you so you don't have to pay shipping.
I know this is kind of off topic. But I was wondering if the above statement applies to first generations. If I go and buy 31 inch tires and regear at 4.10 can I just go and buy an Apten chip and this will recalibrate my speedometer and odometer. Or are the speedos mechanically controlled on 1st gens? In which case I would have to get a new speedo gear.
I just don't understand how they can program the chips based on just telling them what you have.. Have they tested every possible combination of modifications? How do they know that they way they burn their chips is the best for your specific Ex with your your specific mods? No Ex is alike.

They know more about an Explorer's internal workings than the average Joe. They have "canned" programs based on basic mods such as intakes, custom catbacks etc. If you tell them about other mods, they have programs for that. Check out the FAQ on their site or call them to find out more.
I've got the standard dual program (87/91) and love it. I don't know how the 87 program works because I've never used it. I really have to get into the habit of using regular gas again, especially at today's high prices.
Sorry, didn't see the thread. $180 sounds great. What do you plan to do with the chip once you get it. Unless you have computer code CDE2 and a SOHC, you'll have to get it reburned for your veh, which I am sure you know.
Let me know by PMs, I'll see them instantly that way...
