I'm putting what I believe to be an engine out of a 98 ? into a 97 xls. The new engine injectors look much better than the ones in the engine that I'm removing. Any reason to believe the newer injectors won't work?

Check them for color coding. Use only ones that have same color. May or may not apply to your application but check um.

The colors are different but the sets on ebay for supposedly the same year are all kinds of colors.

When there is a choice the Ford parts guy will ask what color u want. My Brother in Arms explains it second to none.

Big change

90-97 return fuel 16# injectors with 36 psi fuel rail, two fuel lines

98-00 returnless fuel, 16# injectors with 64 psi fuel rail Pressure, one fuel line

So you must use the ones that match your fuel rail

Oh 95-97 orange 98-00 white

I believe the 90-94 injectors were wide body and red

Injectorplanet says the ones from the 97 (red) are 97TF-AA and 20lb @43. The ones from the 98 (white) are 98TF-AA and 14lb @43psi. I assume that's testing pressure and not fuel rail pressure however since the 97 has a return line and the 98 doesn't.

Interesting
They can test them and tell you how much fuel they delivered in their test machine

However 97 injectors are orange not red

Red was 1990-94
Orange is 95-97
And white are 98-00

The 90-97 injectors run at 36 psi and the 98-00’returnless runs at 64 psi (not 43) so measuring them with different pressures behind them is completely useless

The point is they are not interchangeable

Ok orange they just looked red to me. Glad I got this sorted out. I was going to stick the white ones in, glad I didn't. Thanks again!
