I had a great time at the badlands. The trip was definately worth while. Badlands has a little bit of everything all in one place.
I would like to clarify my situation with the full size Chevy though as the story has seemed to grow and grow. The Pumpkin was never in danger of getting pulled in or flipping or anything else. After I gave the guy the hook I started reeling him in while i was standing outside the truck. The brake was off and the truck wasn't in gear so it rolled a foot or so. So I jsut hopped in and put my foot on the brake. No biggie.
The Chevy was a different story. As the winch pulled him towards me he kept giving it gas. He was over running the winch cable so I had to keep running it to keep it tight. Between the winch and his lead foot he managed to put himself in a worse position with water jsut about to pour in his drivers door window!
Anyway, we got another winch on him from the side and that pulled him upright.
The Pumpkin recieved a couple scrapes out there on the 3-4 trail. I scraped a front fender on a tree, that should buff out and on the same tree I cracked my Bushwhacker fender flare... now it matches the flare on the other side.
I know for sure that we impressed the hell out of the guy who was leading us on that trail. I think we made a good showing for Ken Brubaker as well, I can't wait to see his coverage of the event!.
We made a great showing with Explorers from 8 states! That is really quite an accomplishment. Thanks to everyone in the NOIEC for showing me a great time! I had a blast!
My photos will be online later today.
