auto 4x4 issues

i have a 94 X and i clicked it into 4 wheel drive earlier and now my 4x4 light stays on by the switch and when i click to disengauge it i just hear a click from the rear hatch area (i know the 4x4 shift module oir whatever its called is located there) and then a couple seconds later i hear it again... i can still turn my front drive shaft until the hubs lock...and i dont hear the shift motor kick on.. when i engauged it like 10 minutes prior i did hear the motor kick and it it did lock my front driveshaft... where should i look for this issue or any ideas? thanks in advance

well i tore the shift motor apart...and the one little brush thats spring pressure onto the coil (not sure what its called) and its broke in two...so im guessing thats my problem! i can get a new tc shift motor for about 100 dollars here but does anyone know rough jy prices? or will i be better off getting new since this is such a common problem?

Prices may vary......

Local U Pull & Pay sells the motors for $22 and a new one from Autozone or Rockauto runs around $75. Of course, with junkyard parts there's always a risk that you'll get one that's in the same or worse condition than what you have now or you could get one in excellent condition - it's a crap shoot. If you go new, you'll spend a little more, but it'll work straight out of the box and has a warranty.
