We ordered a red explorer sport a week ago and were told 12-16 weeks. What is the average build time, time to get the VIN/sticker, etc?

Hello Slag, I ordered my sport 12/27/12, window sticker up 2/8/13 and my ETA is currently 2/25/13. So that's about 9 weeks for my experience.

You can PM your order # to the Ford Customer Service rep here and Crystal has been super great on keeping me posted.

Congrats btw!

I ordered my Explorer Sport on Dec. 10 and the dealer said they submitted the order on Dec. 13. Received my VIN # on Dec. 22 and the window sticker started showing up online on Jan 11. It arrived at the dealer on Jan. 23 and was ready for pick up on Jan. 25, so just under 7 weeks for me. There are some factors that will effect the delivery time such as the dealers allocation and the priority level they assign to it. Overall, I would trust the timeframe the dealer tells you as they know better than anyone else what the typical delivery time for a given model will be. My dealer told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks, but probably closer to 6 from the beginning and they were dead on.

Hey slag!

Congratulations on ordering! As others have said, there are lots of factors that go into estimating your delivery date; your best resource for your specific Explorer's ETA is your dealer. Additionally, I can keep you up-to-date on your vehicle's status. Just send me a private message (PM) with your order number/dealer name and I'll give you the details.

Thanks for the kind words, 13TuxedoSport! I'm glad to hear I was able to help. :D

Looking to purchase 2013 Explorer Limited. was told i would have to order due to options I wanted and didnt want. Dont want 2 piece sunroof, but want rear bucket seats/ center console. Cant find anywhere so I'm not opposed to ordering it. Does anyone know if I order direct can i split up package 302A. I want the hid headlamps and rain sensing wipers but they cant be ordered with the 301 package. The auto parallel park and distance sensing cruise control is nice but I'll probable never use. I dont want to pay for things I'll never use, or in the end is it easier and cheaper to get the package. Dealer obviously says its all or nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Nairb4190,

Have you checked out the Build and Price site? It'll show you which features are part of certain packages, including those that are optional. Try it out: http://bp3.ford.com/2013-Ford-Explorer?hptid=fv-suv-rtn-sch-explorer-bp#/ChooseYourPath/

I did. If i choose the 301 package and then continue to option and choose the HID headlamps or rain sensing wipers a popup window says if you want this you need to delete 301 and add 302 for an additional $3k. Wasnt sure if there was more freedom from the package groupings if I had it built.

Nope, you cannot add or delete options from the packages. That would defeat the whole purpose of having them. This also simplifys the ordering and build process, doesn't leave undesirable optioned cars sitting on dealers lots for months. It groups together the most popular ordered options (or at least what Marketing thinks you want) and discounts them.

Wish I had the order number. Its a company vehicle and the company uses a 3rd party (Fleet Solutions)to go through to order the vehicle. It was ordered early February and when we asked on the a couple days ago for any information on it, they said to check back in a month because it was just sent to Ford..
