in California if you get caught driving without insurance you get a 1100$ fine and you have to hold a SR-22 for 3 years. i pay 215 a month for 4 cars on insurance i hate payin it just like every other bill, but it has to be done

And what's your opinion on health insurance? You'll find out soon enough that insurance premiums are nothing compared to the world of hurt you'll be in after an auto accident or suffer physical harm.
Don't worry guys he's not going to understand until its too late. BTW how long do you think it would take to pay off, say, $500k for accidentally maiming or killing someone at only $12 an hour? Good luck.

I don't want to pay was along the lines of what you said, right?? Tough sh*t, theres tons of things I don't want to do, but I have to. Imagine if you blindsided someone, and they have to have extensive surgery and therapy. I don't think that your $12 and hour is going to cover that. Therapists charge almost 10x that per hour. Immagine if the same thing happend to you, someone blindsided a person that you love or care about, and they didn't have insurance. How would you feel when you heard that the driver didn't have insurance, and you could not pay any hospital bills?

Someone could be in a hospital bed on the verge of death, why?? So, you could save a measly $135 a month? You are a fool, and your foolishness will catch up to you sooner or later. Buy insurance, like everyone else said it is totaly stupid not to.

That's the problem with people in my generation, they don't see driving as a privledge, they see it as a right. If you don't have a license, you don't drive. If you don't have a car, you don't drive. If you don't have INSURANCE, then you don't drive. You can't just say "I disagree", and go on with it. If and when you get into an accident, you are going to be paying enough out of pocket to cover 2-3 years of insurance. Obviously your parents are just as foolish as you are for letting you do it. The whole "lets rebel against the government" act you're putting on here will not win you any supporters. I don't buy it.

I can back up the comment about not having health insurance... I chose not to enroll in health insurance at my last job... Wasn't covered by my parents anymore, and thought nothing would happen since I lead a rather safe and healthy life...

BUT about 2 weeks after I passed the deadline for enrollment, I pass out and bust my chin open on the floor... There's $350 for a trip to the clinic and stitches that weren't done properly so hurt like hell getting removed...

Then in March, I hurt my ankle playing volleyball... It's a good thing it was covered by CAP, because those bills were nearly $600 to visit the ER, get X-rays, have the ankle wrapped, and the crutches... Another bill that would've dropped my bank account to right around $0...

When I get the information and paperwork from Saturn to enroll in health insurance, damn straight I'm gonna do it. I got to find out the hard way what the powers-that-be (if you believe) will do to you if you make stupid choices... Might not be 2 weeks later as my experience was, but you'll regret not getting the insurance someday...

now i know better..... i am also required to have an sr-22 on file with dmv until decemer 06, 2005 ....... i am damn lucky i didnt hurt anyone.... i also know how i screwed up and what i thought before, i will not have that happen again.... being without a license for 8+ months really makes you appreciate driving.....

My friend was having money problems and decides to cut off his health plan for 6 months. Well 1 month later his slpeen ruptured. Now he's in the hole for over 30K.

You see the way insurance works is the people who have clean driving records pay for the people who have wrecks. Thats the way it is. Having the attitude"I don't think I should have to have it" will make no sense when they are taking most of your $12 dollars an hour. Then when you retire they garnis your Social Security. If you can afford it, and you make SO much, why not buy it? Pay out of pocket? Have you ever looked at how much an accident REALLY costs. Usually 2 cars, property damage, fire and rescue bills, ambulance rides injuries, lawsuits. How long do you think it would take to pay off a 35 of 50 thousand dollar accident. I highly doubt you would want to pay them monthly bills. And that's RESTITUTION The Gov't never slips on collecting its $$$.
